Landslide First Time

After a class at the University of Alabama I had quite a long walk ahead of me.   I had been in a two hour lab and I was so ready to get back to the Delta Delta Delta sorority house.

It was just the beginning of fall when some of the other sorority houses had a few windows open after a stifling summer.   The girls had placed a stereo and speakers facing toward the streets and blaring. It caught my attention immediately because I had been playing the guitar (although it was a plastic one!) since age eight.

The song was full of stacked acoustic harmonies and it gave off a haunting sound but with a gentle reflective tone.

That was the first time.   The first time I ever heard Landslide by Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks on vocals, backed by Lindsey Buckingham's tasteful guitar finger-picking.  I was hooked immediately.  Little did I know, I would never be the same.

Landslide takes you through thoughts about change and leaves introspective hints about the passage of time and the courage that is required to climb.

Things were dreamy and wonderful that very moment to me.

As a songwriter today with a producer that actually had the opportunity to visit the house in Aspen, where Stevie Nicks supposedly penned the song, the magic and metaphors came through.

It is with great honor that I have finally gotten the opportunity to make a cover recording of this iconic song: “Landslide” word and music by Stevie Nicks

Landslide is track 6 on my forthcoming EP Release “Sometimes Blues” and will be available as a single on all digital music platforms on September 20.  Check back for updates and preorder links!
