“Landslide” landed as #23 in the Top 40 when it was originally released by Fleetwood Mac and reached Gold again in 2011.
Stevie Nicks is the writer of this song, and her style of vocals on this beautiful ballad resonated with me as she asked herself the hard questions about breakups and other life changing events. She ponders in the lyrics, “Can I handle the seasons of my life / Even children get older, and I’m getting older, too.”
In my Tri-Delt days I traveled from Tuscaloosa, AL from the University of Alabama to Birmingham to see Fleetwood Mac live at the arena several times!
Lindsey Buckingham’s unique fingerstyle playing and his leads on the electric guitar mesmerized me and influenced my guitar playing greatly, both on acoustic and electric.
As I toured with Vern Gosdin as his acoustic guitar player / high harmony singer in the ‘80s, I began incorporating influences gained from the song, and always enjoyed playing “Landslide” as a cover.
In my own touring bands that I played in through the 90’s, like Mixed Company and Mystique, we would still always do “Landslide” as a transition song between Country, Folk, and Rock & Roll. It was one of the crowd’s favorite songs!
Today this song that has inspired me so much through the years has been covered again in Nashville’s 515 Studio, produced by Amanda Colleen Williams in a roots acoustic version with me playing all the guitars.
Our brand new acoustic version of “Landslide” will be landing again available now for pre-save and released on all streaming platforms on September 20.
